OAPEN Library – Dedicated to Open Access Books

The OAPEN Library is dedicated to the dissemination of Open Access (OA) books, while creating a quality controlled collection of OA books and improving their visibility and discoverability.

Together with libraries, research funders and publishers OAPEN is committed to the creation of a quality-controlled collection of Open Access books: providing libraries and their patrons with barrier-free and seamless access to Open Access books.

Currently over 18,500 Open Access books are hosted on the OAPEN Library, accounting for over third of all the books in the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB).

Membership Model

The OAPEN Library membership program is set up specifically for libraries and their institutions.

Thanks to their membership contributions, member libraries make possible the vital work of the OAPEN Library for libraries, scholars and the general public, to provide free and unrestricted access to and preserve scholarly books.

The services that the OAPEN Library provides include usage reporting, metadata files and improved discovery.
