Knowledge Unlatched partners with Luminos

Berlin, 05th of March 2018. Knowledge Unlatched (KU), the central platform for the sustainable funding of Open Access (OA) models, is pleased to partner with Luminos, the OA initiative from the University of California Press (UC Press).

The Luminos initiative publishes around 40 books per year in OA. Books selected for the programme undergo the same rigorous standards of peer review, production, and marketing as University of California Press’ traditional programme. Luminos offers a transformative membership model that gives participating libraries significant benefits such as discounts on Books Publishing Charges (BPCs). Luminos and KU provide a range of membership models to suit libraries of all budgets.

"Luminos is the next step in UC Press's proud tradition of monograph publishing,” says Tim Sullivan, Director of UC Press. “I'm excited to partner with KU in this evolution to see just how far we can together take digital publishing in the future."

"Through the opening up of its platform to further OA initiatives, KU is helping to create a sustainable and transparent market for OA," says Dr. Sven Fund, Managing Director of KU. "We are delighted to be able to promote the Luminos membership model to libraries all over the world, alongside further partner initiatives to be announced in the next few months."

About Knowledge Unlatched (KU): KU offers free access to scholarly content for every reader across the world. Our online platform provides libraries worldwide with a central place to support Open Access models from leading publishing houses and new OA initiatives.
